ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The spring semester came to a close in May, as did the UNC Asheville Athletics season(s). Baseball made its first Big South Tournament since 2019, while Track & Field had two teammates compete at the NCAA Regionals for the first time in program history. Our student-athletes finished the year in a big way, so be sure to read the supporting information below and vote for your May "Bulldog of the Month" presented by Zaxby's! Baseball (Field) – Robbie Burnett – Freshman – Franklinton, N.C.

Hit .365 with three home runs & 15 RBI in the month of May
Hit two home runs vs. Gardner-Webb on May 8 & posted a four-hit game vs. the Runnin' Bulldogs at the Big South Baseball Tournament
Named to the All-Big South Freshman Team & garnered Honorable Mention honors as well following the regular season

Baseball (Pitcher) – Jacob Edwards – Senior – High Point, N.C.

Posted a 2-0 record with a 1.80 ERA in four starts in May
Picked up his 200th career strikeout (seventh Bulldog to ever reach that milestone) and moved into the top five in program history in wins (16)
Named to the All-Big South First Team at the conclusion of the regular season

Men's Track & Field – Solomon McDonald – Senior – Carthage, N.C.

Earned All-Big South Third Team honors in the shot put (17.10-meters) at the Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships
Broke the outdoor school record in the shot put at the Lee University Last Chance Meet with a toss of 17.63-meters
Qualified for the NCAA East Prelim meet in the shot put and placed 33rd with a mark of 17.45-meters

Women's Track & Field - Claudia Prieto - Senior - Madrid, Spain

Garnered All-Big South Second Team honors in the long jump (6.03m) at the Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships
Also was named the Big South's Scholar-Athlete of the Year following the Championships
Qualified for the NCAA East Prelim meet in the long jump where she placed 23rd with a leap of 5.92-meters
