NEW ORLEANS – The UNC Asheville cross country teams were recently recognized for their hard work in the classroom as both squads were named All-Academic Teams by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). It marks the third straight year that both the men's and women's programs have earned this accolade.
"I'm very proud of our men's and women's cross country programs for once again receiving the USTFCCCA All-Academic team awards," said Head Coach Adam Puett. "Our athletes do an outstanding job of prioritizing their academics while also being successful on the cross country course. One of the things that I really love about UNC Asheville is that you have the opportunity to get a quality education while also being a Division I student-athlete."
To qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period. Asheville's women's team posted a GPA of 3.52, while the men's GPA came in at 3.32.
