RICHMOND, Va.  – The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) recently announced that the UNC Asheville swimming & diving team earned Scholar All-America Team honors for their efforts in the classroom during the fall semester. It marks the 19th straight semester that the Bulldogs have achieved this honor.
"It is an honor to be recognized again by the CSCAA as a Scholar All-America team," said Head Coach Elizabeth Lykins. "This group of women work extremely hard in the classroom and the water to perform at their highest level. With eight ladies earning a perfect 4.0 GPA in the fall term, it's clear the high expectation we place on academics."Â
The Bulldogs posted a team grade-point average of 3.58 to earn the honor. In total, 728 teams from 450 colleges and universities earned the accolade. In the Collegiate Coastal Sports Association (CCSA), only Incarnate Word (3.66) and Gardner-Webb (3.63) ranked ahead of the Bulldogs in terms of team grade-point average.
"We want to thank Ms. Rebecca Nelms, Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Success, for all of her help," Lykins added. "As well as Dr. Jeff Wilcox, our Faculty Athletic Representative, for providing an avenue to be successful as both students and athletes."Â
Greg Earhart, CSCAA Executive Director, highlighted UNC Asheville's achievements noting, "Coach Lykins has done a very nice job. These 32 women are some of the best ambassadors that UNC Asheville and the CCSA could ask for."Â
