ASHEVILLE N.C. – Hitting .379 with 22 hits and garnering All-Big South honors, baseball's Dominic Freeberger has been named the May "Bulldog of the Month" presented by Zaxby's.

The poll, which had a smaller field of participants due to the bulk of Asheville sports completing their seasons in April, included Anthony Mason (Men's Track & Field) and Claudia Prieto (Women's Track & Field).

A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Freeberger recorded a hit in all but one game, registering two or more seven times in the month of May. The junior had a particularly strong series against Longwood, scoring three runs on seven hits with one home run and three RBI as the Bulldogs took two of three from the Lancers. Freeberger would register an RBI in four of the last seven games of the season, totaling three hits at Gardner-Webb (May 15) and three against USC Upstate (May 21). The do-it-all man for Asheville made three pitching appearances down the stretch, picking up a win over Longwood on May 7.

On the year, Freeberger spent time at seven different positions for the Bulldogs, hitting .333 with six home runs and 30 RBI. Overall, he led Asheville in at-bats (201), hits (67), doubles (12), and triples (3). Freeberger also appeared in 11 games as a pitcher where he posted a 2-1 record and recorded a pair of saves.
