Swimming & Diving Honored as CSCAA Scholar All-American Team

RICHMOND, Va. – The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) recently announced that the UNC Asheville swimming & diving team earned Scholar All-America honors for their efforts in the classroom during the spring semester. It marks the 18th straight semester that the Bulldogs have achieved this honor.
"Our staff is incredibly proud of the team's classroom efforts during the semester with such unique circumstances," said Head Coach Elizabeth Lykins. "To be recognized by the CSCAA is an honor amongst these other talented & intelligent teams. We'd also like to thank Ms. Rebecca Nelms and Dr. Jeff Wilcox for their continued support of our academic success."Â
Overall, 721 programs from 426 institutions earned the honor. Programs had to finish with a semester GPA of 3.0 or higher to qualify for this recognition, and the Bulldogs posted a 3.46 grade-point average. The CSCAA will name its individual Scholar All-America team next week.Â
"Coach Lykins didn't let a difficult season stand in the way of success," noted CSCAA Executive Director Greg Earhart. "These are some of the best ambassadors of UNC Asheville and Athletic Director Janet R. Cone, Chancellor Nancy Cable, and Dr. Jeff Wilcox (Faculty Athletic Representative) can and should be proud of these 30 women."
Founded in 1922, the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) is the nation's first organization of college coaches. The mission of the CSCAA is to advance the sport of swimming and diving with coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy, and professional development.
