04.16.2021 | Cross Country

NEW ORLEANS – The UNC Asheville cross country teams were recently recognized for their work in the classroom as they were each named an All-Academic Team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.

"I'm very proud of both our men's and women's teams for earning USTFCCCA All-Academic honors," said Head Coach Adam Puett. "They work very hard not only as athletes but most importantly as students, and it shows. As a program, our goal is always to be the best we can possibly be in the classroom."

The women's team is one of six Big South programs to earn this accolade. It marks the 11th time the program has received this honor, including the fourth time in the last five years. Collectively, Asheville boasted a 3.53 grade-point average.

The men's program, meanwhile, posted a team GPA of 3.31. Asheville has now earned USTFCCCA All-Academic team distinction 10 times, including three of the last four years. The Bulldogs join fellow Big South schools Charleston Southern, High Point, Radford, and Gardner-Webb in earning this distinction.
