Claudia Prieto Named to Big South All-Academic Team

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville track & field student-athlete Claudia Prieto was honored Friday by being named to the Big South Women's Indoor Track & Field All-Academic team.
An All-Academic team selection during the last outdoor season, Prieto last competed during the 2019-20 indoor season. She set the Bulldog indoor long jump record with a leap of 5.78m at the Buccaneer Invitational in late January. She also finished third in the long jump at the 2020 Big South Indoor Track and Field Championships in late February. As a freshman, Prieto placed fifth in both the long and triple jump at the 2019 Big South Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Prieto currently holds a 3.952 grade point average, while majoring in biology with a health and wellness promotion minor.
The Big South Women's Indoor Track & Field All-Academic Team consists of one student-athlete from each institution that meets the criteria of having completed at least one academic year at the institution, maintains at least a cumulative 3.0 grade-point average and is of sophomore standing (academically and athletically). The team and Scholar-Athlete of the Year award are selected by the Big South Conference Sports Information Directors. Each Indoor Track & Field All-Academic team combined for a 3.73 GPA, and are as follows:
