CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced its men's soccer postseason awards on Thursday afternoon with sophomore goalkeeper Leon Musial earning All-Academic honors.
Musial started 14 of 15 games and was second in the conference in both total saves (62) and saves per game (4.13), and recorded three or more saves in twelve games, including six games with five or more. "We could not be more proud of Leon for all of his accomplishments on and off the field," said head coach Mick Giordano. "He has been a key figure for our team and truly deserves the recognition."
The Ingolstadt, Germany, native tied his career high in saves against High Point this November with eight stops, which is tied for third most in a game in the Big South. Musial is a 4.0 student who is undeclared but anticipates becoming a health and wellness major. "It's never easy to achieve a 4.0," said Giordano. "But to do this in multiple semesters while performing at the highest level truly speaks volumes about his character and dedication to being a student-athlete.
