01.28.2021 | Men's Soccer
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South released its preseason men's soccer poll on Thursday, with UNC Asheville selected to finish ninth overall.
With COVID concerns moving the soccer season from fall of 2020 to this spring, Asheville will play eight games, all against Big South opponents. The last official game the Bulldogs played (November 6, 2019) was a 2-1 defeat over Presbyterian at Greenwood Field.
Among other players, Asheville returns Taylor Durall and Ben Katts, who will serve as team captains this season. In 2019, Durall started five of 15 games played at forward, totaling 13 shots. Katts, meanwhile, started seven of 12 games played in the midfield, registering two shots on goal. Nate Evnas is the top returning scorer for the Bulldogs, finding the back of the net twice and dishing out an assist during the 2019 campaign.
