CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference released its annual Preseason Cross Country Polls Friday morning. The UNC Asheville men's cross country team was picked to finish fourth, while the women's squad was tabbed to place fifth.
The preseason prediction for the Bulldogs is the same as their respective finishes at the 2019 Big South Cross Country Championships. It marked the fourth consecutive year that the men's team has finished fourth. With their fifth-place finish, the women have now finished in the top six in the Big South every year since 2012.
Individually, the Bulldogs return few runners that have put together stellar times in the past. Junior Clara Wincheski holds the program record in a 6K run (21:09) and sits third in 5K meets clocking in as low as 17:58. Senior Sage Turner is also back for the men's team and he has the 15th-fastest time (25:41) in program history in the 8K.Â
