Tyree McFalling selected to Big South Outdoor Track & Field All-Academic Team

CHARLOTTE – Tyree McFalling of the UNC Asheville men's track and field team was selected for the Big South's Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic Team, the league office announced on Friday afternoon.
On the track, McFalling had a stellar season for the Bulldogs, notching several top 10 finishes in six events during the indoor season. The Wentworth, N.C. native won the 400m at the Buccaneer Invitational and helped the Bulldog 4x400m relay team win a conference championship at the Big South Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships. He also set a new personal-best time in the 300m run with a time of 35.25 at the Appalachian Open Indoor Meet in early December.
McFalling graduated from UNC Asheville last week with a degree in economics with a 3.90-grade point average. Additionally, McFalling received the Outstanding Performance Award in Economics. This award is given to the Economics student at UNC Asheville, who had the best overall performance, as selected by the faculty earlier this month.
The Big South Men's Outdoor Track & Field All-Academic Team consists of one student-athlete from each institution that meets the criteria of having completed at least one academic year at the institution, maintains at least a cumulative 3.0 grade-point average and is of sophomore standing (academically and athletically). The team and Scholar-Athlete of the Year award are selected by the Big South Conference Sports Information Directors. This year's team combined for a 3.68 GPA, and is as follows:
