UNC Asheville Indoor Track and Field Teams Earn Big South Team Sportsmanship Awards

CHARLOTTE – UNC Asheville's men's and women's indoor track and field programs were chosen as the Big South Conference Team Sportsmanship Award recipients, the league announced Thursday.
It is the third Team Sportsmanship Award for the women's team since the honor began in 2006, and it is the second straight season the Bulldogs have claimed the award. It is the first time the men's program has earned the distinction.
The Big South Conference honors one team in each of its championship sports with the Team Sportsmanship Award. At the conclusion of each championship, student-athletes on each team rank the top three teams in the Conference for the Team Sportsmanship Award for that particular sport. The team with the most points in the voting receives the honor.
Both Bulldog squads finished fifth in the Big South Indoor Championships in February. The men earned five trips to the podium, including a first-place finish in the 4x400 relay and a first-place finish from Thomas Little in the 3,000m. Bryson Riddick earned distinction as the conference's Freshman of the year. The women earned four trips to the podium, including a second-place finish in the DMR.
