Lykins Named CCSA Co-Coach of the Year

KNOXVILLE, TENN. – Eighth-year swimming & diving head coach Elizabeth Lykins was named the CCSA Co-Coach of the Year, which was announced at the conclusion of the four-day championship meet in Knoxville, Tenn.

It is the second straight year that Coach Lykins has received the honor as she was also named co-Coach of the Year after the 2018-19 season.

Lykins was assisted this season by assistant swimming coaches, Ian Quinn and Marty Moran, along with diving coach, Thomas Gertsch.

The Bulldogs had a record-breaking meet at the CCSA Championships as UNC Asheville claimed its highest finish in the history of the program with a fourth place finish. The Bulldogs also scored a record-number of points as they scored 782 points during the four-day championship meet.

UNC Asheville set four program records during the meet and seven freshman records, along with numerous lifetime and season-best times.

The Bulldogs made an impressive jump in the standings after they found themselves in ninth place at the conclusion of day one. Over the final three days of the meet, the Bulldogs jumped up five spots with some amazing efforts in the pool to finish in the program high fourth-place.

UNC Asheville reached another program first at the CCSA Championships as the Bulldogs second-year diving program scored points in the 3M dive in the championship meet for the first time ever.
 
Coach Lykins oversaw a Bulldog program that swam to a 5-4 dual meet record for the 2019-20 season. UNC Asheville won their last four dual meets in a row. Their current four meet winning streak is the longest winning streak in program history.
