BOONE, N.C. – UNC Asheville's men's soccer takes to the road again after a two-match home stand last week when it travels to Boone, North Carolina to take on Appalachian State in a 7 p.m., Wednesday contest at the Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex.
The Bulldogs (1-5-1) will look to rebound after a pair of home losses last week to UNC Greensboro and Wofford. More than 600 fans showed up to Saturday's contest against Wofford during Family Weekend at UNC Asheville, marking the largest crowd of the season.
The Bulldogs will look to score their first road victory of the season, Wednesday. Last season, the Bulldogs and Mountaineers battled to a 1-1 draw at Greenwood Field. The Mountaineers hold a 16-9-3 advantage in the all-time series.

House of Payne
Freshman goalkeeper Jarrett Payne earned recognition as the Big South Freshman of the Week, September 9, for his performances against VMI, and namely, against Georgia State. Against the Panthers, Payne recorded 17 saves, including a diving stop on a penalty kick in the 32nd minute.
The rookie followed up that performance with 14 saves against Furman the following week. He has 58 total saves on the season, which is the most in the country and four more than second place in the rankings.
Offensive Attack
Junior Tyson Hichman has been the go-to man in the early part of the season, leading the way with four goals scored in seven matches, which is tied for 38th in the country in goals scored. His four goals already equal the Bulldogs' individual team-high of four scored by Izaiah Vignali last season. He scored the Bulldogs' lone goal against UNC Greensboro, last Wednesday night. He has one game-winner as well, scoring the difference-maker against VMI at home, September 4.
Senior Dino Dziergas has moved to the back line this season, but has still maintained a presence in the offensive attack, scoring a goal on Senior Day against Georgia State. He also leads the team with two assists, recording a helper on Hichman's goal against Furman and his first of the year at Navy.
Junior Colin Daughtry has scored as well for the Bulldogs, and seniors Kyle Adams and Luiz Felipe Dantas have each come up with assists.
Scouting the Mountaineers
The Mountaineers enter Wednesday's match with a 5-2 overall record and a 4-1 record at home. They opened their season with five straight home matches, and will be returning home after falling on the road at Elon, but defeating UNC Greensboro, Saturday.
Appalachian State opened its season with a loss to St. John's, but then rattled off four-straight home wins over Loyola Maryland, George Mason, American and High Point.
Kelan Harris leads the Mountaineers offensively, having scored three goals and notching an assist. Zeiko Harris has two goals on the year, and five other Mountaineers have scored once. Jacob Madden has started all seven matches in goal this season, allowing just six goals while recording 26 saves.
