Bulldogs Place Tenth in Open Water Nationals

LAWRENCE, KAN. – UNC Asheville's Swim and Dive team placed tenth in the CSCAA Open Water Nationals on Saturday morning. The event was the first for the Bulldogs in the 2019-20 season and featured their four seniors, Catherine Allen, Madison Rogan, Skylar Rogan and Adee Weller.
The event was a 5,000-meter race that was hosted by the University of Kansas at Lone Star Lake.
Adee Weller paced the Bulldogs with a 29th place finish with a time of 1:08:49.1. That finish was Weller's highest finish in the three times that she has competed in the event. She was less than a minute away from a top 20 finish in an event that featured over 75 competitors.
Skylar Rogan and Catherine Allen finished three seconds apart as the duo finished 42nd and 45th, respectively. Madison Rogan came in right on their heels with a 52nd place finish with a time of 1:11:35.9.
As a team, the Bulldogs finished with an average time of 1:09:15.17. The quartet all finished within three minutes of each other.

The Bulldogs will have a quick turnaround as UNC Asheville Swim and Dive will host its second annual Intersquad & Alumni Meet next weekend. The annual event will take place at 12 p.m., Saturday, September 21, at the Buncombe County Schools Aquatic Center.
