UNC Asheville Cross Country to Open 2019 Season Friday

BOONE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Cross Country will open its 2019 season by competing in the Covered Bridge Open, Friday, August 30, at the Don Kennedy Trails at State Farm. The women's race will begin at 5 p.m., while the men's race will take place at 5:45 p.m.
The event is hosted by Appalachian State and will also include teams from Florida State, ETSU, USC Upstate, East Carolina, Western Carolina, High Point, Mars Hill and Spartanburg Methodist.
UNC Asheville's men's and women's cross country teams finished fourth in last year's Big South Cross Country Championships, and were again picked to finish fourth this season in the preseason polls.
The women's team has one newcomer and eight returners from the 2018 squad, including three-time Runner of the Week, Clara Wincheski.
The men's team has 10 newcomers and five returners, including Thomas Little, who received one Runner of the Week award during the 2018 season.
