COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For the impressive 14th straight semester, the UNC Asheville swimming & diving team earned College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team honors.

As a team, UNC Asheville posted a 3.59 grade-point average to garner CSCAA Scholar All-America team honors for the spring of 2019. The team GPA was the second-best out of nine women's teams in the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA).

"The staff and I are very proud of the team members and their dedication to academic performance," UNC Asheville swimming & diving head coach Elizabeth Lykins said. "For the spring 2019 term, we had four ladies with perfect 4.0 GPAs, six members with a 3.9 and a total of 27 women with a 3.0 or higher. The team's incredible classroom results are the continuation of a strong team culture that believes in hard work in all of their endeavors.

"We'd like to thank Rebecca Nelms, Assistant AD for Student Athlete Services, and Jeff Wilcox, Faculty Athletic Representative, for all of their continued assistance in allowing this team to be successful in the pool, on the boards and in the classroom."

In addition to earning CSCAA Scholar All-America Team honors for 14 straight semesters, the Bulldogs have produced the past two CCSA Scholar-Athletes of the Year in Skylar Rogan (2019) and Catherine Allen (2018).

"Coach Lykins consistently produces one of our nation's best academic performers," CSCAA Executive Director Greg Earhart noted.

At 3.45, the median GPA among women's teams in the CSCAA during the spring was the highest on record.
