CoSIDA Release
ASHEVILLE, N.C. – For the second straight year, UNC Asheville's Catherine Allen has been chosen to the Google Cloud Academic All-District® Women's At-Large District 3 Team.
The 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's and Women's At-Large Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes outstanding student-athletes in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
"Catherine Allen is the epitome of a student-athlete here at UNC Asheville and her recognition by CoSIDA for the Academic All-District team is no surprise," UNC Asheville swimming & diving head coach Elizabeth Lykins said. "Allen maintains a 3.985 GPA in the very challenging major of Biology and scored 67 individual points at the conference championships as well as earning team points for relays. She has earned a prestigious summer internship with MAHEC where she will work with physicians in Asheville and parts of western North Carolina. We could not be more excited to have Catherine representing UNC Asheville and we are extremely proud of her successes in the classroom and the pool."
Last year, Allen earned UNC Asheville's first-ever CCSA Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award. She earned the award based on her performance in the pool and in the classroom. Teammate Skylar Rogan was named this year's CCSA Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
UNC Asheville swimming & diving earned College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team honors for the 13th straight semester earlier this year.
