2019 Spring Schedule
ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville men's soccer opens its 2019 spring schedule this weekend by traveling to NC State.
The Bulldogs are scheduled to take on the Wolfpack at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 17, in Raleigh, N.C.
"The spring season is a great opportunity for our players," UNC Asheville men's soccer head coach Mathes Mennell said. "We've got 23 guys in right now and all are excited to get out there and play. The opportunity to play some of the teams we have scheduled for our spring schedule is great. We are playing traditional powers like Elon and NC State, which means we have a great test in front of us. We also play two very good NCAA Division II teams and we also get to renew our Mountain Rivalry with Appalachian State along with capping it all off by welcoming back our alumni.
"The spring for us is a chance for a lot of growth, especially with so many returners along with adding two new players in the midseason. We are excited to see what our team can do against quality opponents."
UNC Asheville men's soccer in total will have six matches against outside competition this spring to get ready for the 2019 regular season.
After facing off against NC State on Feb. 17, the Bulldogs will then travel to face Elon (3 p.m. on Feb. 23) in a neutral site match before returning home to take on Wofford (2 p.m. on March 23).
The Bulldogs will welcome two opponents to Greenwood Field on Saturday, April 6 in Mars Hill (11 a.m.) and Lees-McRae (2 p.m.).
UNC Asheville's final match against outside competition will be when the Bulldogs travel to Boone, N.C. to face Appalachian State at 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 13.
The 2019 spring season for UNC Asheville will close at Greenwood Field on Sunday, April 14, when the Bulldogs host their annual Alumni Game at 11 a.m.
