Bulldogs Kick Off Day One of Fall Frenzy with Freshman Relay Record

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – UNC Asheville swim and dive completed the first day of the Fall Frenzy Invitational by claiming a new freshman relay record along with multiple phenomenal performances that led to many season and lifetime-best times!
"It was a great start to the three-day meet from the minute the first Bulldog raced!" Head coach Elizabeth Lykins said. "Countless season-bests and a few lifetime-bests really showed the hard work paying off. The entire team is contributing and it is exciting to watch the times drop. We have four more sessions and hope to continue the success!"
Finals:
The highlight of the day was the Bulldogs A relay team that set a freshman record in the 200 free relay finals! The quartet of Nora Segurola Larrinaga, Jessie Frank, Bela Stuart Vieira and Delaney Carlton earned a fifth place finish in the event while etching their names in the Bulldog record book with a time of 1:35.46!
UNC Asheville's B relay of MacKenzie Humphrey, Anna Nabors, Christa Jones and Adee Weller finished in 15th place with a time of 1:39.06. The Bulldogs' C relay of Skye Lewis, Lily Sullivan, Alexis Baker and Amelia Ham finished with a time of 1:41.27.
In the 500 free finals, Skylar Rogan claimed a third place finish with a time of 4:57.09! Adee Weller beat the season-best time she set in the prelims by setting a new season-best time of 5:02.24 in the finals.
In the 200 IM finals, Madison Rogan and Christina Marshall improved upon the season-best times that they set in the prelims by setting new season-best times in the finals with Rogan finishing with a time of 2:08.16 and Marshall finishing with a time of 2:07.48.
Ellis Nelson also competed in the 200 IM finals and finished with a time 2:12.00 while Amelia Ham finished with a time of 2:12.14.
Delaney Carlton and Jessie Frank each set new lifetime-best time sin the 50 free finals. Carlton finished with a time of 23.68 and Frank finished with a time of 24.19. Bela Stuart Vieira also competed in the event and finished with a time of 24.33.
Three Bulldog relay teams competed in the 400 medley relay finals. The Bulldogs' A relay, Nora Segurola Larrinaga, Christina Marshall, Madison Rogan and Bela Stuart Vieira, finished in ninth place with a time of 3:51.15. UNC Asheville's B relay consisting of Delaney Carlton, Ellis Nelson, Anna Nabors and Adee Weller finished with a time of 4:00.19.
The C relay team, Jessie Frank, Lily Sullivan, Alexis Baker and Christa Jones, finished with a time of 4:01.18.
Prelims:
All four Bulldogs that swam in the 500 free finished with a season-best time. Skylar Rogan led the way with by claiming a spot in the A Final with the top spot and a time of 4:56.54 and Adee Weller claimed a spot in the B Final with a time of 5:04.49. Aleta Jewell and Marlee Burgess finished the event with times of 5:19.10 and 5:45.74, respectively.
The Bulldogs showed out in the 200 IM as eight Bulldogs set season-best times in that single event. Four of those Bulldog swimmers earned spots in the finals. Madison Rogan earned a spot in the C Final with a time of 2:08.34 while Christina Marshall earned a spot in the D Final with a time of 2:09.29. Two more Bulldogs earned a spot in the D Final as Ellis Nelson finished with a time of 2:09.84 and Amelia Ham finished with a time of 2:10.27.
The other Bulldogs to secure season-best times in the 200 IM were Lilly Sullivan (2:11.90), Anna Nabors (2:14.16), Meredith Bunting (2:16.53) and Lexi Federico (2:21.10).
Delaney Carlton set a season-best time of 23.89 in the 50 free while claiming a spot in the B Final. The freshman then went on to set a lifetime-best time of 23.69 in a swim off. Bela
Stuart Vieira also earned a spot in the B Final of the 50 free with a season best time of 24.16.
Jessie Frank swam a lifetime-best time of 24.25 in the 50 free while earning a spot in the C Final.
MacKenzie Humphrey, Christa Jones and Skye Lewis all set season-best times in the 50 free with Humphrey finishing with a time of 25.03, Jones finishing with a time of 25.16 and Lewis finishing with a time of 26.17.
Amelia Ham swam a time of 25.27 in the 50 free while Hannah Bruno swam a time of 25.71. Anna Nabors and Nora Segurola Larrinaga competed in the 50 free time trials and finished with times of 25.28 and 24.06, respectively.
Alexis Baker competed in the 50 fly and finished with a time of 26.14.
The Fall Frenzy Invitational will continue on Saturday with the prelims at 9:30 a.m. and the finals at 5 p.m. at the Mecklenberg County Aquatic Center.
