About Appalachian State

Quotable
"It's going to be a fun game," UNC Asheville men's soccer head coach Mathes Mennell said. "It's really our closest rival with only two Division I teams in Western North Carolina. It's got a little bit of a derby feel to it. I really like what Jason O'Keefe has done there. They're on a nice run of form and they have certainly found a way to win games early, and that's a skill. They're going to be a great test for us. It's a lot of fun for a lot of reasons. There are a lot of players who have played against each other in club. The players and both teams are very familiar with each other. It's always a fun occasion and to have that game here, it's always even more fun. This is a game that I think everyone looks forward to every year.
"For us, we were excellent this past weekend, but we did not win. I like the way my team is playing and if our positive growth continues over the course of the season then that's exactly what we want because we should be humming by the time we get to full-tilt Big South play. We are starting to kind of round our way into a consistent style of play and guys are doing a great job with some of their attacking moments."
