UNC Asheville Cross Country Back on Campus

08.13.2018 | Cross Country

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The excitement has been building, and UNC Asheville head cross country coach Jesse Norman is thrilled to have the 2018 men's and women's cross country teams back on campus.

"I've been kind of jealous of all of the other fall teams that have started up already," Norman noted. "Now it's our turn to get situated and to get going. It's exciting to see everybody. We've got a lot new excitement in our program with all of the newcomers and the upperclassmen we have returning."

The Bulldogs officially reported to campus on Monday, Aug. 13, and after picture and video day they also took part in meetings along with getting situated in their residences. The first week for UNC Asheville cross country will be all about getting acclimated and testing just where the Bulldogs are as they prepare for their 2018 schedule.

"This is our testing week to see where everybody is at," Norman said. "We will have weights and sprints today and then Wednesday evening we will have our time trial. We're looking forward to seeing how that goes and seeing how everybody is with their fitness."

For the second straight season, UNC Asheville men's and women's cross country will open its season by competing in the Covered Bridge Open hosted by Appalachian State in Boone, N.C. This year's Covered Bridge Open will be held on Friday, Aug. 31.
