NORFOLK, Va. – For the 12th consecutive semester, the UNC Asheville swimming team earned College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team honors on Tuesday.
"It is an honor to be recognized for the 12th semester in a row as a Scholar All-America Team by the CSCAA," said head swimming coach Elizabeth Lykins. "These swimmers prove themselves daily in the pool and classroom, and to be commended is a testament to their hard work and dedication.
"The 3.51 grade-point average is also the highest team GPA in program history. Special thanks to our support staff, especially Rebecca Nelms, for putting in the time necessary to allow all of our student-athletes to succeed."
The All-America Teams represent 476 institutions from across all NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA Divisions.
To earn the honor, teams were required to post a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the spring semester, and the Bulldogs posted a 3.51 GPA for the 2018 spring semester.
Eight of the nine Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) teams were awarded with the honor.

Among teams with a dozen or more student-athletes, on the women's side Saint Francis (PA) led the nation with a 3.81 GPA. Grand Canyon University posted a 3.66 for the highest GPA among the men's programs with a dozen or more participants. It is the third time the Antelope men have led Division I programs.
