UNC Asheville Men’s Soccer Continues to Help Grow Game With United Soccer Coaches Open Training Week Session
04.05.2018 | Men's Soccer
ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's soccer coaching staff is always willing to go above and beyond to help grow the game.
That's why it was a no-brainer for the Bulldogs to participate in the United Soccer Coaches Open Training Week.
The UNC Asheville men's soccer coaching staff hosted local coaches from 11:20 a.m.-12:50 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, at Greenwood Field.
"It's awesome," UNC Asheville men's soccer head coach Mathes Mennell said of the session at Greenwood Field. "I'm really excited that the United Soccer Coaches Association offered this opportunity. They do such a great job of being our coaches' organization, and for them to come up with this, I was really excited to a part of it to open to coaches in the community to show what we are doing, this is why we're doing it in preparation for our game against NC State (on Saturday) and this is what it looks like."
Mennell knows that it also helps to continue to promote the game in Asheville.
"It also gives those local coaches that are fans of Asheville City to see our five guys that are on the team," Mennell said. "It just grows the game. To be a part of it from the United Soccer Coaches Association perspective is really cool, but also it gives us the great chance to continue to grow the game here in Asheville."
UNC Asheville men's soccer has two games remaining in its spring schedule. The Bulldogs will face NC State in Raleigh, N.C. at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, before closing out its game preparation for the 2018 fall campaign with a home match against future league foe USC Upstate at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, at Greenwood Field.
