Lykins Announces 10 Signees for 2018-19 Season

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville swimming head coach Elizabeth Lykins announced Monday morning the addition of 10 swimmers that will join the squad for the 2018-19 season.

Alexis Baker
Hometown:
Kingwood, Texas
High school: Kingwood Park High
Club team: The Woodlands Swim Team
Events: Sprint Free, Breast and Fly
Coach's quote: Alexis will be a huge asset to the team, as she joins the sprint group and will contribute in the 100s of breast and fly as well as a versatility to our Bulldog relays. We're excited to welcome Alexis to the Bulldog family all the way from Texas.

Hannah Bruno
Hometown:
Raleigh, N.C.
High school: Leesville Road High
Club team: Marlins of Raleigh (MOR)
Events: Sprint Free and Fly
Coach's quote: As the only in-state commitment for the class of 2022, Hannah Bruno will bring sound reasoning and thoughtfulness to the squad. Hoping to have an immediate impact to our sprinters, Hannah will contribute mostly in the 50 free and 100 fly. 

Marlee Burgess
Hometown:
Plainwell, Mich.
High school: Plainwell High
Club team: N/A
Event: Breaststroke
Coach's quote: Although Marlee doesn't have extensive experience, her determination will prove to be a massive upside that will be noticed, as she joins and adds depth to an already talented breaststroke squad. Marlee is excited to attend UNC Asheville and is hoping for a more pleasant winter than she normally experiences in Michigan. 

Lauren Dunne
Hometown:
Savannah, Ga.
High school: Veritas Academy 
Club team: Georgia Coastal Aquatic Team (GCAT)
Event: Freestyle
Coach's quote: Lauren will contribute to the Bulldogs in short freestyle events: 50, 100 and 200. Her ability to overcome injury and adversity will serve her well at the collegiate level. She will join a talented sprint group, who pushes each other to improve daily. Lauren looks forward to continuing her swimming career in Asheville as a Bulldog. 

Amelia Ham
Hometown:
Townsend, Ga.
High school: St. Vincent's Academy
Club team: Savannah Swim Team (SST)
Events: Breaststroke and IM
Coach's quote: We look forward to Amelia building off the success of her very fast high school senior season. She will help in both breaststroke events as well as the individual medleys, as we look for her to contribute team points at the conference level.   

MacKenzie Humphrey
Hometown:
Rochester, Mich.
High school: Rochester Adams High
Club team: Birmingham Blue Dolphins (BBD)
Events: Breaststroke and Sprint Free
Coach's quote: Attracted to the state of North Carolina, MacKenzie found a home at UNC Asheville, and she can't wait to join her new teammates on campus and in the pool. Mac will not only add depth in the breast and short free events, her bubbly personality will be well received.  

Anna Nabors
Hometown:
Flowery Branch, Ga.
High school: Homeschooled
Club team: Lanier Aquatics
Events: Butterfly and IM
Coach's quote: Hailing from northeast Georgia, Anna joins the strong butterfly squad and will compete in the 400 IM. Her club coach said, "Anna does not yet know just how fast and accomplished she can become in the pool and in life." We feel the same way about her and can't wait to have her on campus this fall. 

Ellis Nelson

Palatine, Ill.
High school: Palatine High
Club team: Palatine Park District (PPD)
Events: IM, Breast and Fly
Coach's quote: Ellis is a strong competitor in the shorter events of IM, breast and fly. Her club and high school successes have prepared her aptly for the intensity of college swimming. We are excited to have Ellis join the Bulldog family and look forward to her arrival. 

Maren Oliver
Hometown:
Aldie, Va.
High school: John Champe High 
Club team: SNOW Swimming
Events: Breaststroke and IM
Coach's quote: Maren has had solid success in the breast and IM events; she'll have the opportunity to develop her 200s as well within our training groups. She adds depth to the breaststroke squad and will enjoy training IM and free with many teammates. We are happy to have Maren as a Bulldog.  

Lily Sullivan
Hometown:
Peachtree City, Ga.
High school: Homeschooled
Club Team: Southern Crescent Aquatic Team (SCAT)
Events: Breast, Fly and Back
Coach's quote: Although Lily specializes in breaststroke events, she has strong showings in the 100 fly and 100 back as well. We look forward to Lily contributing in multiple events and strokes throughout the season. She is excited to continue her swimming career as a Bulldog here in Asheville.
