Bulldogs Post Strong Showings in the 5000m at the Yellow Jacket Invitational

ATLANTA – To open the Yellow Jacket Invitational, the UNC Asheville men's and women's track and field teams had several strong performances in the 5000m on Friday at the George C. Griffin Track.
Day One Highlights
Kelley Coleman had the best finish for the Bulldogs in the women's 5000m, as she placed 20th with a 18:09.57. That time was over 20 seconds faster than her previous career-best, which she set last year at the Big South Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Phoebe Schneider placed 25th with a 18:23.23, and Kamyrn DeCarmo rounded out the top-30 finishes for the Bulldogs, as she clocked a 18:42.95.
On the men's side of the 5000m, Blanton Gillespie had the highest finish (24th), as the senior recorded a 15:29.59. David Hager finished three spots behind his teammate, as he posted a 15:35.44.
What To Watch For On Saturday
The first event on the final day of the Yellow Jacket Invitational is the shot put, javelin and pole vault, which all starts at 11 a.m. The first running event will commence at 12:30 p.m. with the 4 x 100m relay, and the final event of the two-day meet is the 4 x 400m relay.
