Mathuthu and Little Represent Bulldogs on First Day of Chipotle Marshall Invitational

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. – With only two representatives on the first day of the Chipotle Marshall Invitational, Victor Mathuthu and Thomas Little competed for UNC Asheville track and field in the men's triple jump and 5000m on Friday.

Highlights

Mathuthu continued his success in jumps this season, as he finished top-5 in the men's long jump. His third jump of 6.74m was his longest of the evening and was only 0.03m away from matching fourth place. He was only 0.02m from matching a career best, which he set at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational last weekend.

Little was the lone Bulldog to compete in a track event on Friday. He raced in the men's 5000m, where he posted a time of 15:49.65. The time marks a new career best for the Durham, N.C. native. His previous best was set last season at the 2017 Western Carolina Track & Field Invitational on April 28, 2017.

What To Watch For On Saturday

Most of the events will be held on Saturday. The first event on Saturday will be the men's high jump, women's high jump and men's triple jump, which commences at 10 a.m. The first track event will be the women's 60m hurdles semifinals, which begins at noon.

The final event of the meet with be the men's 1600m relay at 4:15 p.m.
