Day Two Highlights

Preliminaries

500 Freestyle Prelims

In the first prelim event on Thursday, Skylar Rogan broke the school record again this season. She clocked in at 4:55.47, which was 1.16 seconds faster than the previous record that she set at the Fall Frenzy in November of last year. The record time placed her eighth out of 42 swimmers.

Three other Bulldogs - Catherine Allen, Adee Weller and Stephanie Smith - also qualified for the final event, as they each placed in the top-24. Allen finished right behind Rogan in 10th, as the Raleigh, N.C. native posted a career best 4:57.12. Weller finished 14th with a career best 5:00.10, and Smith recorded a 5:04.61 to earn her a spot into the finals.

Sydney VandenBerg and Aleta Jewell each posted career-best times as well. VandenBerg swam a 5:09.28, while Jewell recorded a 5:13.24.

Allie Snyder (5:13.77)  and Brittany Thomas (5:19.84) capped off the performances for Asheville, as both Bulldogs clocked season-best times in the 500 freestyle.

200 Individual Medley Prelims

For the third time at the CCSA Championship, another school record fell, as Madison Rogan broke the UNC Asheville mark in the 200 IM. The sophomore posted a 2:06.88, which bested the previous school record by over half a second. The Athens, Ga. native qualified for the finals later, as she placed 16th in the prelims.

Carly Emerson finished just outside of the top-24 with a 2:12.67, and Madison-Grace Bristow clocked a season-best time of 2:19.25.

50 Freestyle Prelims

Morgan Rulevich paced the Bulldogs in the 50 free, as the junior earned a spot into the finals. She finished 15th with a 23.63 time.

Jessica Woolfe, Elizabeth Conte and Elizabeth Murray each posted season-best times. Woolfe recorded a 24.49. Murray posted a 24.85, while teammate Conte finished just 0.05 seconds behind her teammate.

Skye Lewis clocked in at 25.78, which bested her previous career best by 0.92 seconds. Katie Brown swam a 25.59, and Shannon Kennedy finished 0.07 seconds behind her, as they each swam as individuals for UNC Asheville.

Earning 23 team points was Skylar Rogan, who broke the school record again for the second time on the day. She placed seventh with a 4:54.52, which was almost nearly a second faster than her preliminary time.

Quotable

"It was a great evening of racing! I am so proud of everyone, especially our school record holders. Allen lowered the record with a career best by almost two full seconds, 4:55.15, in the 500 free B final. Only to be out done by classmate Skylar Rogan in the A final with a new school record and career best of 4:54.52."

"In the 200 IM, Madison Rogan made school history by becoming the first UNC Asheville swimmer to score in the event. Her B final time of 2:06.05 was also a career best."

"For the final individual event of the evening, Rulevich earned 10th place honors by lowering her own school record in the 50 free with a 23.24."

"I couldn't be more excited with three events and three new team records."
