CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Following her performance against Gardner-Webb on Friday, senior swimmer Morgan Rulevich was named the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Female Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018.
The weekly honor is the third of her career and the second this season. This also marks the first time in UNC Asheville history a swimmer has won multiple swimmer of the week accolades in a single season.
Rulevich won two individual races (50 free and 100 free) and was also part of the first place 200 free relay team. With her three victories she helped lift Asheville to the first-ever victory over Gardner-Webb, 115.5-89.5.
She kicked off the CCSA dual meet with a 24.20 mark in the 50 free. Her time was 0.56 seconds faster than GWU's fastest swimmer.
Three events later the Lake Wylie, S.C. native clocked a 52.10 time in the 100 free. That time was over two seconds faster than the runner-up.
To cap off Friday's home meet versus the Runnin' Bulldogs, Rulevich was the leadoff leg in the 200 free relay. In her leg she posted a 23.96 time to help contribute to the 1:38.64 overall time and a first-place finish.
What's Next?
Rulevich and the entire UNC Asheville squad will take just over a week off to rest up and prepare for the Fall Frenzy Invite. The three-day tournament is hosted by Queens University and begins on Nov. 16 at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center.
