Volk Named Big South Freshman of the Week
UNC Asheville freshman setter Grace Volk has been chosen as the Big South Volleyball Freshman of the Week. The league office made the official announcement on Monday, Nov. 5.

Volk averaged 10.50 assists and 2.50 digs per set last week in UNC Asheville's three wins.

Volk finished UNC Asheville's road win at Charleston Southern on Tuesday, Oct. 30, with 34 assists, six kills, six digs, one ace and one block. In UNC Asheville's home win over Hampton on Nov. 2, Volk had a double-double with 38 assists and 12 digs. The 38 assists tied her season-best. She also had two kills, one ace and one block in the win over Hampton.

In UNC Asheville's home win over Campbell on Nov. 3, Volk ended her afternoon with 33 assists, seven digs, three blocks, one ace and one kill.

Winning Ways
UNC Asheville's current seven-match winning streak is its longest winning streak since 2010. It is also the longest of the Frederico Santos era as head coach of the Bulldogs. Santos' 2015 Bulldogs won six straight at one point. The current seven-match winning streak is also UNC Asheville's first seven-match winning streak in league play since 2009.

Nearing 1,000 Digs
Cara Guthrie already has surpassed 1,000 kills in her career earlier this season, but she is nearing joining the ultra-exclusive club of those with 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs. After the win over Campbell, Guthrie now has 989 digs in her career. Guthrie, who currently has 1,202 kills, would become just the 12th in UNC Asheville volleyball history to have over 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs.

Guthrie in the Big South Record Books
Cara Guthrie with 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs would become just the 46th in Big South Conference history to have 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career. Guthrie also currently has 131 aces in her career, meaning that with 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs she would become just the 35th in league history with over 1,000 kills, 1,000 digs and 100 aces.

Season-Best
Cecilia Stack's eight blocks in the win over Campbell tied Julia Loveday for the most on the team this season in a single match. Stack's four solo blocks are a team single-match season-best.

Career-Best
Madisen Zyburt surpassed 400 digs on the year in the win over Campbell. Her 407 digs this season with two regular-season matches remaining are a career-best for her and currently mark the ninth-most digs in a single season in UNC Asheville's rally scoring era (since 2008).
