Rooks Named to 2018 Big South Volleyball Championship All-Tournament Team

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville volleyball standout Ansley Rooks closed out her impressive junior season by being named to the Big South Volleyball All-Tournament Team after the conclusion of the championship at the Justice Center.

Rooks closed out UNC Asheville's two matches in the Big South Tournament with 2.50 kills and 2.00 digs per set. She had 20 kills and 16 digs in total.

In UNC Asheville's thrilling come-from-behind five-set win over USC Upstate in the Big South Tournament quarterfinals on Friday, Nov. 16, Rooks ended her efforts with 15 kills, 12 digs and two aces. She hit .324 in the match.

On the year, Rooks finished the season averaging 2.35 kills per set. The Hickory, N.C. native had a team second-best 235 kills in total in 100 sets played. Rooks will enter her senior season with 597 career kills.

Overall it was a special 2018 season for Rooks and UNC Asheville volleyball.

UNC Asheville's 10-match winning streak that was snapped in its Big South Tournament semifinal loss to High Point on Saturday, Nov. 17, was its longest winning streak since 2005.

UNC Asheville's 16 wins this season were the most for the Bulldogs since winning 17 in the 2013 season. UNC Asheville's thrilling win over USC Upstate in the Big South Tournament quarterfinals also allowed the Bulldogs to pick up their first conference tournament win since 2012.

UNC Asheville closed out its 2018 regular season home slate an impressive 9-3 at home. UNC Asheville has now won at least seven home matches in a single season for the last four seasons. Including UNC Asheville's two matches at home in the 2018 Big South Volleyball Championship, the Bulldogs are 36-12 over the last four seasons at home.
