Swimming & Diving Earn Nine Lifetime Bests and 23 Season Bests on Friday at the Fall Frenzy Invite

TIME TRIAL RESULTS

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - To open the first day of the Fall Frenzy Invite, the UNC Asheville swimming & diving team posted nine lifetime bests and 23 season bests on Friday at the Mecklenberg County Aquatic Center.

BULLDOG BITES

Day One Highlights

Out of the 14 women's teams competing at the Fall Frenzy, UNC Asheville is sitting in third with 312 points. The Bulldogs are ahead of Coastal Collegiate Sports Association rival Gardner-Webb by 162 points. 

Preliminaries

500 Freestyle Prelims

Seven Bulldogs competed in the preliminary round of the 500 free, and all seven swimmers posted season-best times. In fact, two Bulldogs - Madison Rogan and Marlee Burgess - each clocked lifetime best marks in the event.

Skylar Rogan led UNC Asheville in the event, as the junior earned a 4:57.32 time, and Catherine Allen was right behind her teammate with a 4:59.08 mark. The Bulldog duo were the lone Bulldog representatives in the A Final of the event later in the evening.

Adee Weller and Madison Rogan finished ninth and 12th, respectively, as they were within one second of each other. Both Bulldogs earned a berth into the B Final later on Friday.

Sydney VandenBerg was the final Bulldog to claim a spot in a final on Friday, as the senior finished 18th overall with a 5:11.60 time. She represented UNC Asheville in the C Finals.

100 Individual Medley Prelims

Just like the 500 freestyle prelims, all eight Bulldogs that competed in the preliminary round of the 200 IM posted a season-best time. 

Madison Rogan continued her success in the pool on Friday, as she earned a spot in the A Final with a 2:07.01 time.

Emma Nelson finished 16th overall, as she was one of two Bulldogs to earn a lifetime best in the event (2:10.43). She was the lone Bulldog representative in the B Final.

Lily Sullivan also clocked a lifetime best mark with a 2:11.62. She along with VandenBerg will be the two Bulldogs in the C Finals in the 200 IM.

50 Freestyle Prelims

To cap off the preliminary results on Friday, again all nine Bulldogs posted season-best times in the 50 free. 

Morgan Rulevich posted a fourth-place finish in the event, as she posted a 23.39 time. She was the lone Bulldog in the A Final.

Mackenzie Humphrey was the final Bulldog to earn a berth in a final, as she clocked a lifetime best 24.75 in the event. She finished 21st and competed in the C Final.

Finals

500 Freestyle Finals

Skylar Rogan earned the bronze, as she posted another season-best time. This swim she clocked a 4:56.32 time, which was over a second faster than her preliminary time. Weller finished fifth with a 5:01.44.

As the lone Bulldog in the B Final, Weller finished ninth with a season best 5:00.92. That time was nearly two seconds quicker than her prelim time.

VandenBerg also shaved off time in her final race, as she posted a lifetime best 5:08.51 time. That time was over three seconds faster than her prelim time.

200 Individual Medley Finals

Four Bulldogs raced in finals in the 200 IM. Madison Rogan was the only Bulldog in the A Final, and she posted a 2:07.11 mark to finish seventh overall.

Nelson was also the lone Bulldog in her final race, as she competed in the B Final. She posted a 2:11.90 mark to finish 16th.

Sullivan and VandenBerg both raced in the C Final. Sullivan earned another lifetime-best mark, as she shaved off nearly a second from her preliminary time. Sullivan also clocked another season best 2:12.32.

50 Freestyle Finals

In the final individual event on Friday, Rulevich earned the bronze with a third-place finish. She posted a season best 23.26 mark. That time was 0.13 seconds faster than her prelim mark.

Humphrey also competed in her final - C Final - and she finished 23rd with a 24.85 time

Relays and Time Trials

200 Freestyle Relay

UNC Asheville sent out three relay teams to compete. The A team finished the highest out of the trio, as Rulevich, Jessica Woolfe, Weller and Sullivan clocked a 1:37.18 time to finish sixth.

Asheville's B team finished ninth with a 1:39.39, while the C team placed 14th with a 1:40.69 time.

400 Medley Relay

UNC Asheville's A team led the Bulldogs in the event, as it finished eighth with a 3:56.94 mark. 

The B team placed 15th with a 4:02.36 time.

200 Butterfly Time Trial

Aleta Jewell posted a season-best time of 2:12.64.

200 Breaststroke Time Trial

Alexis Baker swam a lifetime best mark of 2:27.10.

What's Next?

The Bulldogs will continue competing in the three-day Fall Frenzy Invite on Saturday morning. The prelims will start at 10 a.m. in Charlotte, N.C., while the finals of those events will start at 6 p.m.
