Zyburt Tabbed Big South Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – UNC Asheville volleyball senior standout Madisen Zyburt has been chosen as the Big South Defensive Player of the Week.
The league office made the official announcement on Monday, Oct. 22, 2018.
The honor is the second of the season for Zyburt, who was also selected as the Big South Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 17.
Zyburt closed out UNC Asheville's two wins this past weekend averaging 3.88 digs per set. She finished with 31 digs in total on the week.
In UNC Asheville's three-set home win over Charleston Southern, Zyburt ended her efforts with 15 digs on Friday, Oct. 19. She followed that up with 16 digs in UNC Asheville's thrilling five-set home win over Presbyterian College on Saturday, Oct. 20.
Zyburt surpassed 1,000 digs as a Bulldog in the Friday win over Charleston Southern. The Plainfield, Ill. native now has 1,017 digs in her three seasons in the UNC Asheville program. Including her freshman season at Carson-Newman, Zyburt now has 1,163 digs in her career.
UNC Asheville volleyball will next travel to Rock Hill, S.C. to take on Winthrop at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26. One day later the Bulldogs will travel to Boiling Springs, N.C. for the second "Battle of the Bulldogs" match of the season against Gardner-Webb at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27.
