Bulldogs Continue Dominance on Saturday; Down North Florida 218-94 on Senior Day

ASHEVILLE, N.C.
- After dominating North Florida in the first day of the two-day meet, the UNC Asheville swimming team concluded the dual meet on Saturday in the Justice Center Pool with a 218-94 victory over the Ospreys.

The 218 points scored by the Bulldogs was the most team points in program history. The previous high was recorded at Lenoir-Rhyne when Asheville won 214-44 during the 2014-15 season.

Day Two Highlights

After winning all nine events on the opening day of the dual meet versus the Ospreys, the Bulldogs won seven of the eight events on Saturday morning. 

To start the day, the Bulldogs went first and third in the 200 medley relay. The A Relay won top honors as Alejandra Sanchez Garcia, Morgan Rulevich, Madison Rogan and Jessica Woolfe recorded a 1:50.63. The time edged North Florida's A Relay by 0.19 seconds. 

In the best events for the Bulldogs on Saturday, Asheville swept back-to-back events in the 500 freestyle and 200 backstroke. Adee Weller won the 500 freestyle with a 5:07.34 followed by Skylar Rogan (5:09.39) in second and Catherine Allen (5:14.27) in third.

In the 200 backstroke, Sanchez Garcia won the event with a 2:07.34. Emily Werth followed with a 2:08.87 and Stephanie Smith was just behind her with a 2:09.56.

Sophomore Rulevich won back-to-back events in the 200 breaststroke and 100 freestyle. In the 200 breaststroke, she recorded a 2:26.26, which was over six seconds faster than second place. For the 100 freestyle, the sophomore clocked in at 53.19, and Weller finished second with a 54.50. With Rulevich's three victories on Saturday, she concluded the meet with six first-place finishes.

In the 400 IM, Madison Rogan won with a 4:39.62, and Smith swam a great race in the same event as she finished in 4:41.03.

In the final race of the two-day meet, Woolfe, Skylar Rogan, Weller and Sanchez Garcia took home the top spot in the 400 freestyle relay (3:39.47). The four Bulldogs claimed 11 team points as they beat North Florida's A Team by over three seconds. 

What's Next? 

With its 124-point victory in the regular season finale, the Bulldogs will prepare for the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Conference Championships. The four-day meet will begin on Feb. 14 and will be held in Athens, Ga. inside UGA's Gabrielsen Natatorium.
