Swimming Dominates North Florida on Day One as Bulldogs Win All Nine Events

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville swim team dominated North Florida on Friday in the Justice Center Pool as the Bulldogs earned first-place honors in all nine events as they out-paced the Ospreys 119-48 on the first day of the regular season finale.

Day One Highlights
With only nine events on the first day of the two-day dual meet, two Bulldogs won three events in their first day of competition - junior Morgan Rulevich and sophomore Catherine Allen. Rulevich was a member of the 400 medley relay, which claimed first with a 3:57.38. She finished her night with two individual victories in the 50 freestyle (24.29) and 100 breaststroke (1:06.75). Allen was part of the same 400 medley relay as well as the first place 800 freestyle relay (7:54.52). She capped off her opening day performance with an individual victory in the 200 butterfly with a 2:06.69.
Four Bulldogs (Emily Werth, Alejandra Sanchez Garcia, Skylar Rogan and Adee Weller) earned first-place points in two events for Asheville on Friday.
Skylar Rogan won the 1650 freestyle with a 17:34.78, which is a season-best time for the sophomore. The time was nearly 45 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Weller followed up with a victory in the 200 freestyle with a 1:55.66, and in the final event before the 15-minute break, Madison Rogan won the 200 individual medley with a 2:11.50.
Following Allen's individual victory in the 200 fly, Werth won the 100 backstroke with a 58.34, which was over four seconds faster than the runner-up.
The opening day of the two-day meet concluded with Rulevich winning the 100 breaststroke and Skylar Rogan, Allen, Sanchez Garcia and Weller earning top honors in the 800 freestyle relay.
After sweeping all nine events on the opening day, the Bulldogs hold a 71-point lead on Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Conference rival North Florida.
