09.05.2017 | General
ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Senior Administrator for University Enterprises and Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone held her annual "Director of Athletics Appreciation Luncheon" in the Mountain View Conference Room at the Sherrill Center on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
The truly special luncheon featured a chance for valuable friends of the Bulldogs to interact with student-athletes and coaches.
During the luncheon that commenced with all of the student-athletes in attendance each standing up and telling a little about themselves, UNC Asheville baseball head coach Scott Friedholm also took the time to thank everyone there for the coaches.
In addition, UNC Asheville junior swimming student-athlete Katie Brown, who was one of 12 UNC Asheville students to earn the prestigious North Carolina GlaxoSmithKline Foundation Scholarship, talked about being a student-athlete at a tremendous academic institution like UNC Asheville.
UNC Asheville senior men's basketball student-athlete Raekwon Miller, who was awarded a full scholarship this past offseason, also took the time to talk about the importance of scholarships and how much the contributions truly mean to the student-athlete experience.
"This is always one of my favorite events of the athletic year," Cone said. "We are truly blessed to have so many tremendous Bulldog friends at UNC Asheville. We can never thank them enough for all they do to help ensure our student-athletes continue to be Champions in Athletics and Leaders in Life."
