BULLDOG BITES
About the Bulldogs
UNC Asheville men's soccer (0-3-0) has opened the year with three top-notch opponents on the road in Marshall, Loyola Marymount and UC Irvine. The Bulldogs came extremely close to picking up their first positive result of the year in their last match out against UC Irvine in Irvine, Calif. on Sunday, Sept. 3. Down 2-0 in the match, the Bulldogs would not go away without a fight with senior midfielder Richie Lee scoring in the 72nd-minute on a header off an assist from senior midfielder Andrew Lawrence, who on a set piece found Lee's head to put the Bulldogs back in business in the match. Asheville would keep pressing for the equalizer with the Bulldogs having two really strong chances to equalize in the final minutes, but in the end the goal would not materialize for the Bulldogs, giving the Anteaters the narrow 2-1 win.
Scouting the Wildcats
Davidson makes its way to Greenwood Field with a record of 2-0-0 on the young season. The Bulldogs are the third of five straight Big South Conference opponents to start the season for the Wildcats. The matchup against the Bulldogs is Davidson's first road match of the year as the Wildcats started the year with home wins over Presbyterian (2-1) and Radford (1-0).

Quotable
"Davidson is an excellent program. Coach Spear has done an excellent job. It's a fantastic school with certainly a long tradition of excellence in men's soccer. It will be a great game for us, especially to be able to play at home it will be really nice. The nice thing is that both of their opponents so far we're really familiar with. They've beaten a very good Presbyterian team and they've beaten a very good Radford team, who is picked to win our conference, so we certainly have our hands full tomorrow. Now that we are back at home, hopefully we can apply some of the lessons we've learned on our West Coast road trip, but I think it will be a great opportunity for us to get back to a familiar setting and play a really good opponent." – Head Coach Mathes Mennell
