Bulldog Alumni Career Panel Profiles

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – To build Champions in Athletics and Leaders in Life, UNC Asheville athletics is always looking for great ways to get its over 200 student-athletes in front of those that know how to succeed in all walks of life both personally and professionally.

On Sept. 21, 2017, in the Mountain View Room at the Sherrill Center those that know how to succeed were definitely on hand to talk with the current student-athletes at UNC Asheville as part of a special Bulldog Alumni Career Panel.

The 2017 Bulldog Alumni Career Panel featured former UNC Asheville men's soccer (Steve Woody '89, Mathematics), baseball (Justin Wilkins '06, Business Administration/Marketing), men's tennis (Dr. Lanny Hass '79, Economics), track and field (Molly de Mattos '02, Literature) and men's basketball (David de Haan '97, Pysychology) student-athletes.

"This year's Bulldog Career Panel was unique in that it was part of our 90th Anniversary Celebration at UNC Asheville," Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone said. "We are always looking for ways to engage our current student-athletes with those who came before them and present them with career opportunities. I cannot thank Betsy Blose enough for her efforts in making this year's event a special one."

This year's Bulldog Career Panel gave all of the student-athletes in attendance the chance to hear perspectives from the former Bulldog standouts on a variety of things like their work professionally, but also things like how being a student-athlete prepared them for the rigors of their jobs and much more.

"I want to thank our panelists of Bulldog Alumni for sharing their stories of lessons learned while they competed for UNC Asheville with our current student-athletes," Blose, Special Assistant to the Director of Athletics for Advancement and Alumni Engagement, said. "Their words resonate with our student-athletes and with all of us. You are Always a Bulldog. We thank them so much for coming home"
