ASHEVILLE, N.C. – To kick off the 2017-18 swimming schedule, the UNC Asheville swimming team will send four Bulldogs to compete in the CSCAA National Collegiate Open Water Championships in Lawrence, Kan. on Saturday.

Who's Competing
Sixth-year head coach Elizabeth Lykins along with seniors Allie Snyder and Stephanie Smith and sophomores Catherine Allen and Adee Weller will travel to Kansas to compete in the 5K event.
The four Bulldogs had to achieve a qualifying time during last season's schedule to be eligible to compete in the Open Water Championship.
About the Event
The meet will be held at Lone Star Lake where all swimmers will compete in the 5K, which entails two laps (one lap = 2,250m).
The women's 5K race will commence at 9:30 a.m. eastern time.
The event is a non-escorted race where swimmers must swim within the finish chute and finish by touching the finish banner over the water's surface.
The women's field consists of 54 individuals. Some of the competing schools include Missouri, Kansas, Connecticut, Rice, George Washington, Richmond and Alaska-Fairbanks.
