Pursuit of Greatness Very Evident for UNC Asheville Student-Athletes in Classroom During Spring of 2017

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The 2017 spring semester for UNC Asheville athletics more than proved once again that Bulldog student-athletes are completely committed to the pursuit of greatness in all areas.
The 2017 spring semester finished with the 211 Bulldog student-athletes enrolled for the semester closing out the academic year with a combined 3.315 grade-point average for the spring semester.
In fact, 77 percent (163 of 211) of the UNC Asheville student-athletes earned a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2017 spring semester to be placed on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
In addition, 76 UNC Asheville student-athletes concluded the spring semester with a GPA of 3.5 or higher to be placed on the Dean's List. A total of 21 Bulldog student-athletes claimed a spot on the Chancellor's List with a perfect 4.0 for the semester.
The UNC Asheville women's basketball team added on to their 2017 Big South Tournament championship and 2017 NCAA Tournament appearance during the spring of 2017 by collectively having the top GPA among the women's athletic teams during the spring semester with a team GPA of 3.63.
The UNC Asheville men's track and field team had one of their best finishes ever at the 2017 Big South Outdoor Track and Field Championship and even had a student-athlete compete nationally at the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship all while also compiling the best GPA among the men's teams during the spring semester of 2017 with a team GPA of 3.553.
"It was truly a special spring semester for our student-athletes," UNC Asheville Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone said. "Our student-athletes are committed to embracing their roles as students, while also competing at an extremely high level in their respective sports."
