Swimming Opens CCSA Championships with Record-Breaking Performance

ATHENS, Ga. – The UNC Asheville swimming team posted solid performances on the opening day of the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Swimming and Diving Championships. The evening was highlighted by the 800 Free Relay breaking the school record by more than three seconds and featured several strong performances from individuals. The Bulldogs are currently seventh with 98 points.

BULLDOG BITES
SCHOOL RECORD 800 FREE RELAY: Morgan Rulevich (1:52.00), Alejandra Sanchez Garcia (1:52.69), Adee Weller (1:52.32) and Skylar Rogan (1:52.32) broke the UNC Asheville school record for fastest 800-Yard Freestyle Relay by more than three seconds. The quartet combined for an overall time of 7:29.33 and placed fourth in the event, scoring 52 points. The fourth-place finish marks the highest-ever finish in any relay for the Bulldogs.

200 MEDLEY RELAY POSTS STRONG FINISH: The 200-Yard Medley Relay team of Jessica Woolfe, Morgan Rulevich, Madison Rogan and Reid Jackson finished a respectable seventh place in the event. Woolfe swam the back stroke in a time of 26.80, Rulevich finished the breast stroke in a time of 29.4, Rogan swam the fly in 25.95 and Jackson swam the free style in 24.66.

PERSONAL BEST FOR WOOLFE: Jessica Woolfe posted a lifetime best time of 26.80 in the lead-off back stroke.

PERSONAL BEST FOR CONTE: Elizabeth Conte also posted a lifetime best in the 200 Freestyle Relay. The sophomore posted a time of 24.83.

The CCSA Championships will continue tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 16 with two sessions. The morning session begins at 10 a.m. and the evening session begins at 6 p.m.
