UNC Asheville Volleyball Closes Out Regular Season by Hosting Liberty Thursday at the Justice Center

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville volleyball will close out its regular season by playing host to league foe Liberty on Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Justice Center.
First serve between UNC Asheville (12-14, 8-7 Big South Conference) and Liberty (10-17, 7-7 Big South Conference) is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Justice Center.

In the Big South Statistics Overall
Cara Guthrie is currently third in the Big South Conference in both kills (3.79) and points (4.72) per set. She is also seventh in the league in service aces per set at 0.34. KK Haley is third in the league in aces per set at 0.44, while Sheridan Salisbury is sixth at 0.35. UNC Asheville's Ava Venema is eighth in the league in hitting percentage at .279.

Cara Guthrie is currently third in league matches in both kills (3.98) and points (4.58) per set. KK Haley is second in league matches with 0.47 service aces per set. In the Big South Tournament – Important Final Regular Season Match
UNC Asheville volleyball has already clinched a spot in the Big South Tournament entering its final match of the regular season, but the Bulldogs are still battling for seeding. The UNC Asheville win over Presbyterian College garnered the Bulldogs sole possession of fourth place, but Liberty is right behind the Bulldogs in fifth place currently. First Meeting
UNC Asheville and Liberty battled through five sets, but it would be Liberty that would take a narrow 3-2 (25-23, 19-25, 15-25, 15-10) win over the Bulldogs at the Vines Center on Saturday, Sept. 30. UNC Asheville was led in the match by Cara Guthrie's 21 kills and 14 digs. Guthrie also had four total blocks. Two Bulldogs ended their efforts with double-digit kills overall with Ansley Rooks just missing on a double-double of her own with 11 kills and nine digs. Cecilia Stack led the Bulldogs with six blocks to go along with six kills. Sheridan Salisbury had 22 digs to lead the Bulldogs in the category, while Kailey Hackett (24) and Carter Kennedy (23) as always led the Bulldogs in assists. Anna Gragg led Liberty in its win with 18 kills.
Digging It
UNC Asheville's five players with double-digit digs in the win over Presbyterian College on Tuesday marked the first time this year that the Bulldogs had five with double figures in the category in a single match. UNC Asheville's 90 digs overall as a team in the win over the Blue Hose was the second-most in a single match this season behind the 95 digs collected as a team in the 3-1 road win at Charleston Southern on Friday, Oct. 27.
Almost There
Kailey Hackett concluded the win over Presbyterian College just two assists shy of 1,000 for her career. She will start the regular season finale with 998 career assists.
Over 900
Carter Kennedy's 17 assists in the win over Presbyterian College allowed her to surpass 900 assists in her career. She now has 912 career assists entering the regular season finale.
Acing the Competition
Already in the top-20 as a team in the country in the category, UNC Asheville closed out the win over Presbyterian College with nine service aces as a team. KK Haley led the way with five aces. She now has three matches on the year where she has five service aces in a single match.
Home Sweet Home
UNC Asheville has been really strong at the Justice Center this season. The Bulldogs are now 6-2 on the season at the Justice Center with wins over Montreat, Gardner-Webb, Campbell, Winthrop, Charleston Southern and Presbyterian College.
