Cara Guthrie Named Big South Volleyball Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – UNC Asheville junior outside hitter Cara Guthrie has been chosen as the Big South Volleyball Player of the Week.
The league office made the official announcement on Monday, Oct. 9.
Cara Guthrie led UNC Asheville and the Big South last week with 5.17 kills and 6.08 points per set. Guthrie overall in UNC Asheville's two matches last week had 31 kills, 11 digs and five service aces. Guthrie hit .347 on the week.
In UNC Asheville's sweep of Winthrop, Guthrie finished with 16 kills, five digs and four service aces. She followed up that performance by finishing with 15 kills, six digs and one service ace in UNC Asheville's sweep of Charleston Southern.
Guthrie now has over 750 kills in her career with 754.
UNC Asheville volleyball finished out last weekend with two impressive Big South Conference sweeps over Winthrop and Charleston Southern.
The two wins moved the Bulldogs into second place in the Big South Conference standings. To see the full Big South Conference standings, please click HERE.
UNC Asheville will next head to Radford for a 7 p.m. league matchup on Friday, Oct. 13, in Radford, Va. One day later, the Bulldogs will take on High Point at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, in High Point, N.C.
