About Asheville
UNC Asheville men's soccer travels to Gardner-Webb looking for its second win overall and first Big South Conference win of the season. UNC Asheville collected its first win of the season in a dominating 2-0 win over Wofford on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Greenwood Field. The Bulldogs controlled the run of play for pretty much the entire match against Wofford and probably could have added even more goals to their total as they had numerous quality chances in the first and second half. UNC Asheville scored the first goal in its win over Wofford in the 15th-minute when senior Ben Chapal assisted sophomore Luiz Felipe Dantas. Chapal would get one of his own minutes later when in the 27th-minute fellow Asheville native Jackson Allen beautifully sent a through ball toward Chapal, who would do the rest and slot the ball into the back of the net for what would be the final goal of the night.

About Gardner-Webb
The Runnin' Bulldogs welcome UNC Asheville having won three of their last four games. Gardner-Webb picked up a 5-4 double-overtime win over then No. 8 Furman in Greenville, S.C. on Sept. 23. The Runnin' Bulldogs have split their Big South Conference matches so far, besting Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C. on Sept. 30 just a few days after opening league play with a narrow 1-0 loss to Liberty in Lynchburg, Va. on Sept. 26.

Quotable
"Gardner-Webb has had a great season. They've had great results so far such as beating Furman and they just beat Presbyterian, who is off to a good start. The Big South regular season is going to be up and down. I do think that Radford and High Point are the teams to beat, and I think the rest of us are kind of hoping that we can make up ground because there will be some drop points when those two play each other. It just puts so much more importance on games like this as we all try and get to those spots we want to be come Big South Tournament time. Gardner-Webb is well-coached. It's a tough place to play and they have good players. It's a team that traditionally gives us a lot of problems. They're very expansive in the way that they play and that causes opponents a lot of problems. We're going to be really mindful of our team shape and we're going to have to take advantage of our chances. At Radford we created chances, but we did not finish them. Radford created chances and they were clinical in their finishes, and that's really the difference right now in our results in we're creating chances, but we just have not been clinical enough in front of goal. That's been the point of emphasis the last couple of days of training. The mentality of our team has been fantastic and the way they have been working has been great. Hopefully we can see a little more sharpness in front of goal, and that gives us a really good chance to be successful." – Head Coach Mathes Mennell
