Track & Field Unveils Complete 2017-18 Schedule

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville track and field head coach Jesse Norman unveiled the entire 2017-18 schedule on Friday, which consists of seven indoor and nine outdoor meets.
The Bulldogs will kick off their schedule the first Saturday in December as they will travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. to compete in the JDL College Kickoff, which is hosted by Wake Forest.
After taking a month off, Asheville will cross the Tennessee border to make an appearance at the ETSU Invitational. The Bulldogs competed in this event last year where several Bulldogs posted strong performances in Johnson City, Tenn.
After a trip to the Keydet Invitational on Jan. 19-20, Asheville will make appearances in back-to-back weekends at Liberty. The Bulldogs will compete in the Darius Dixon Memorial and the Flames D1 Invitational, and both meets will be held inside the Liberty Indoor Track Complex.
UNC Asheville caps off its indoor regular season with one of its farthest trips of the season as the Bulldogs travel to Marshall in Huntington, W.Va. It will be the fourth straight year Asheville has competed in this event.
The Big South Indoor Championship will be held in a familiar location as the Bulldogs will return to Lynchburg, Va. The two-day meet will commence on Feb. 23 and conclude the following day.
To open its outdoor schedule, UNC Asheville travels to three straight Power Five schools – Georgia Tech, South Carolina and Florida. The Yellow Jacket Invitational will open the Bulldogs' outdoor schedule on March 16.
Following the Weems Baskin Relays in Columbia, S.C., Asheville will split up its squad during the last weekend of March as the Bulldogs will send part of their team to compete in the Florida Relays and the other half to compete in the Terrier Relays.
The Bulldogs will open April at the Carolina's Classic as they will travel to Big South rival Winthrop on April 6.
For the fourth time in the previous six meets, Asheville will make an appearance at another Power Five school – Duke. The Duke Invitational will be held in Durham, N.C. from April 20-21.
The Bulldogs will split their squad again on April 27-28 as half of the team will travel to Johnson City to compete at ETSU and the other half will compete in the ASU Last Chance Meet in
Boone, N.C. The meets at Appalachian State and ETSU will be the final regular season events for the Bulldogs.
The Big South Outdoor Championship will be held from May 9-11 in High Point N.C. It will be the first time since 2015 that High Point has hosted the Outdoor Championship.
Twelve days later, the NCAA will host the East Preliminary Championship in Tampa, Fla., and the NCAA National Championship will be held once again at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. from June 6-9.
