Bulldog Track and Field Set to Compete in Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational

Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational
Location: Liberty Indoor Track Complex / Lynchburg, Va.
Dates:Â Jan. 27-28
ASHEVILLE, N.C. — The UNC Asheville track and field teams will continue their indoor season this weekend when they to travel Lynchburg, Va., to compete in the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational on Jan. 27-28 at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex. There will be a total of 22 colleges and universities competing in this weekend's event, including four other Big South schools (Gardner-Webb, High Point, Liberty and Radford).
BULLDOG BITES
FAMILIAR LOCATION: UNC-Asheville's squads are no strangers to competing in Lynchburg. In fact, the Bulldogs competed there just last weekend in the Liberty Kickoff.

LONG JUMP: Sophomore Chris McKoy had a solid performance in last Sunday's events at Liberty. In the men's long jump, he reached a distance of 6.47 meters. McKoy also competed in the men's triple jump with a distance of 12.69 meters.

RUNNING HARD(ING): Matthew Harding had two top three finishes on the afternoon in the 500 meter dash and the 1000 meter run in last weekend's Liberty Kickoff, as well.

SENIORS SHINE: Two Bulldog seniors finished in the top-10 in the women's 5000-meter competition last Friday: Sarah Heisner finishing fifth and Sam Castle sixth in the event.

UP NEXT: Following this weekend's competition, the Bulldog men and women will return to Johnson City, Tenn., for the Buccaneer Invitational next weekend, Feb. 3-4. They competed in the ETSU Invitational in Johnson City earlier this season.
