Swimming Earns Ninth-Consecutive CSCAA Scholar All-America Team Honor

NORFOLK, Va. – The UNC Asheville women's swimming team was part of a record number of teams to earn Scholar All-America Team honors from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) it was announced Wednesday morning. It is the ninth consecutive semester the Bulldogs have earned the honor.
"It's a great honor to be recognized as a Scholar All-America Team by the CSCAA," head coach Elizabeth Lykins said. "This is a testament to the hard work these ladies put into their classroom and pool work. We'd like to thank Ms. Rebecca Nelms for all of her assistance with our student-athletes in scheduling, class selection and academic support."
To earn Scholar All-America Team honors, a team must have achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the semester. During the Fall 2016 semester, Asheville's swimming team earned a 3.33 GPA. Last semester, four Bulldogs were named to the Chancellor's List, posting a 4.0 GPA and nine others were named to the Dean's List by earning a 3.5-3.9 GPA.
638 teams, representing 394 schools set the record by earning the honor last semester. Eight of 10 women's teams from the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) earned a spot on the list.
The Bulldogs will next compete in the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Championships held in Athens, Ga. The Championships will be contested from Wednesday, Feb. 15 through Saturday, Feb. 18.
