BULLDOG BITES
LAST TIME OUT: The UNC Asheville women's swimming team closed out the home portion of their 2016-17 season by celebrating Senior Day with a meet against Liberty last Saturday, Jan. 14. The Bulldogs fell 153-104 to the Flames despite several strong performances. Freshman Skylar Rogan had another stellar performance as she took top honors in both the 1000-Yard Freestyle and the 500 Free. Adee Weller gave the Bulldogs a 1-2 finish in the 500 Free by placing second and Morgan Rulevich took home first in the 100-Yard Breaststroke.

ROGAN NAMED CCSA SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: UNC Asheville freshman swimmer Skylar Rogan has been named the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Swimmer of the Week, it was announced Tuesday afternoon. It is the first weekly award for a Bulldog swimmer in the short history of the program. Rogan had another stellar performance last weekend in Asheville's final home meet of the season, posting a time of 10:35.54 to take top honors in 1000-Yard Freestyle. Her next closest competition was nearly seven seconds behind. She also took top honors in the 500 Free in a time of 5:14.20, nearly four seconds ahead of second-place.

SKY(LAR) HIGH: Despite being just a freshman, Skylar Rogan already holds the school overall and freshman records for the 500 Free with a time of 4:58.75. She set the record at the Wingate Frenzy in November. Rogan is also second all-time in program history in both the 1000 Free and the 1650 Free and she holds the sixth-best time in program history for the 200 Free. Rogan is currently third in the CCSA top-24 for both the 1000 and 1650 free and is also fifth in the league in the 500 Free.

KEEPING IT GOING: Catherine Allen set the new school record in the 100 (57.59) and 200 butterfly (2:05.39) at the Wingate Fall Frenzy. She continued her solid efforts against Florida Gulf Coast by finishing second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 59.19. Allen also picked up a third place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:59.89.

STRONG SECOND PLACE FINISHES: Sophomore Jessica Woolfe picked up second place points in the meet against Florida Gulf Coast for the Bulldogs in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.74. Junior Emily Werth garnered a second place finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.70.

UP NEXT: Saturday's meet at UNC Wilmington will mark the final regular-season meet for the Bulldog swimmers. Asheville will next compete in the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) in Athens, Ga. The meet will run from Wednesday, Feb. 15 through Saturday, Feb. 18.

QUOTABLES
"This weekend is a great opportunity to fine tune our racing strategies in the last dual meet prior to conference championships. We've never raced UNCW in our short program history, so it will be fun to have some different competition. We are also swimming the 1650 in this meet, so a couple ladies will take advantage of the meet format." – Elizabeth Lykins
