UNC Asheville Track and Field Wraps Up Day One at ETSU Invitational

JOHNSON CITY, TENN.—The UNC Asheville men's and women's track and field teams completed day one of the two-day ETSU Track and Field Invitational on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017.
The Bulldogs posted solid performances throughout the day, beginning the day with the men's and women's 60-meters hurdles. Junior Kayli Nichols placed eighth in the event with a time of 9.08, advancing her through to the finals tomorrow.
Senior Argia Gibson followed with another strong performance for Asheville in the women's triple jump final, placing 13th overall, with a distance of 11.04 meters.
In the men's 60-meters, junior Hunter Koike finished 19th in the event with a time of 7.05. Koike carried his success over to the men's 200-meters, where he placed 6th with a time of 22.17, and advanced to the finals tomorrow afternoon.
BULLDOG BITES
KOIKE CRUSHES RECORDS: Koike broke two Bulldog records on the first day of the invitational. He is now third all-time in the men's 60-meters and second all-time in the 200-meters after his performances today.

UP NEXT: Day two of the ETSU Invitational will begin tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 14, with the women's 3000 meters at 8 a.m. Following completion of the invitational, the Bulldog men and women will travel to Lynchburg, Va. to compete in the Liberty Kickoff Jan. 20-21.
