ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville volleyball team hosts their 2016 UNC Asheville Invitational this weekend, September 9-10. The four-team tournament will begin on Friday, September 9 at 4:30 with an afternoon match-up between Stetson and Alabama A&M.
The Bulldogs will kick off tournament play on Friday night against North Carolina Central at 7:00 p.m., this will be the Bulldogs' first game since their 3-0 win over Montreat on August 31.
All six of this weekend's matches will be played in the Justice Center.
NOTABLES
Bulldogs on a Roll: Asheville has won their last two games to bounce back from a 0-2 start at the Benson Hospitality Invitational. The Bulldogs' past two wins over Montreat College and Savannah State University have both been 3-0 victories with Asheville taking the match in straight sets.
Flashback Facts: In the 2015 UNC Asheville Invitational, the Bulldogs swept all four matches to extend their win-streak to five. The Bulldogs also had two 2015 All-Tournament Team members including the tournament MVP.
Scouting NCCU: The Lady Eagles are 0-3 this season after a tournament at James Madison University in August. NCCU has dropped matches to JMU, College of the Holy Cross and Georgia State University.
Big South Update: Through four non-conference matches this season, the Bulldogs are currently fourth in the Big South Conference standings with their record of 2-2.
Sharp Serving: Asheville leads the conference in service aces per set with an average of 2.27. Presbyterian College boasts the next best average with 2.17 aces per set.

-Following this weekend's play, the Bulldogs will go on the road to Orlando for their final preseason tournament at the University of Central Florida on September 16-17. The Bulldogs will kick off the tournament against the hosting Knights on Friday at noon.
